The first meeting of the Working Group for creating a Guidebook for the improvement and development of media literacy in pre-university education in Serbia was held in the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union through its project Support to Media Reforms in Serbia.
This working group will endeavor to develop a guide for teachers in secondary schools in Serbia in the coming months in order to improve the access and processing of materials from the subject of media literacy. Pointing out that the Ministry is determined to systematically edit this segment, Assistant Minister of Culture and Information Slavica Trifunović said that this would be the first such handbook in pre-university education in Serbia.
She pointed out that the preparation of the guidebook is important not only for the improvement of the system, but also because of the fact that Serbia’s progress in this segment is recognized through the Annual Reports on Serbia’s progress in the process of EU accession.
The meeting was attended by project manager of the EU Delegation in Serbia Svetlana Djukic, and the work of this body will be coordinated by Maja Zarić, head of the Ministry’s Department for International Cooperation.
The working group, whose work is coordinated by the Ministry, consists of representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities – National Communities, the National Education Council of the Republic of Serbia , The Institute for the Evaluation of the Quality of Education and Upbringing, Public Media Institutions Radio-Television of Serbia and Radio-Television of Vojvodina, the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media and the Institute for the Promotion of Education.
